Back in July I started doing the postgraduate degree in BA at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. Sadly to say, I was only there for six days. Long story short, I withdrew from the program due to some visa issue. I was so well prepared that I have purchased all the prescribed textbooks even prior to the program started. After I had to withdraw I ended up trying to sell all my textbooks. Lucky for me my classmates bought all the textbooks. One classmate purchased some books and I gave him my bank account so he can make the transfer. In one of our texts:

Friend: What kind of account is this?

Me: Checking

After a few days....

Me: Have you managed to make the transfer?

Friend: I was waiting for your account information...is that checquing or savings account?

Me: ;-) Checking...or as you'd say here Chequing!!

Friend: Hahaha I thought you were still checking what kind of account it is. Making the transfer now ;-)

Lost in Translation is very real, even when we thought we all spoke English.
